Great Court

One of the most iconic spaces at The British Museum, the famous two-acre square Great Court is the largest covered public square in Europe, housed under a spectacular glass and steel roof.

Surrounding the renowned Reading Room, this incredible space offers an almost blank canvas and the most dramatic of backdrops for large scale receptions or dinners.

Eqyptian Sculpture Gallery

The Egyptian Sculpture Gallery boasts the finest collection of Egyptian monumental sculpture outside Egypt.

Enlightenment Gallery

The Museum’s oldest gallery space, originally built to house the collection of King George III, it is now home to star objects from across the Museum’s encyclopaedic collection, many collected by the Museum’s founder, Sir Hans Sloane.

This gallery tells the story of how people tried to understand the natural and human world by collecting and studying objects.

Lecture Theatres

The Museum’s unique Grade I listed public galleries are complemented with a suite of contemporary conference facilities, designed by Lord Foster, for daytime and evening events.

BP Lecture Theatre and Foyers

A sleek balance of functionality and style, the BP Lecture Theatre has very comfortable fixed tiered seating for 323 people, plus a raised stage with lectern and impressive Sony 4K Digital Projector and cinema-style screen. A control room provides access to state-of-the-art audio visual equipment.

Breakout catering spaces are available in the light airy foyers.

Stevenson Lecture Theatre and Foyers

With an intimate feel, The Hugh and Catherine Stevenson Theatre is an elegant auditorium with fixed, tiered seating for 142 delegates. It’s fully equipped with a screen, HD projector, lectern, two translation booths and an audio-visual control room fully fitted out with state-of-the art equipment.

Included in the hire of The Stevenson Lecture Theatre is the use of the West Foyer, an elegant curved space suitable for registration, refreshments, displays, branding and cloakroom with 248m² of space which can hold between 8-10 exhibition stands.

All delegates can be served a standing lunch or drinks reception here for 330, and up to 150 people can enjoy a seated meal. A ‘Green Room’ is provided for speakers and VIPs which has easy access to the main stage.

The Stevenson Lecture Theatre and West Foyer are both wheelchair accessible.
