The Admirable Crichton

< Back to venues

Once a favoured medieval palace and then a Tudor royal residence, in the 1930s Eltham Palace was transformed by eccentric millionaires Stephen and Virginia Courtauld.

There’s a quirky mix of medieval and modern throughout the Palace and gardens too. Admire stunning herbaceous borders, walk through formal rose gardens and relax in the Rock Garden, with its pools and cascades running down to the moat. Cross London’s oldest working bridge and go on an adventure in the playground inspired by the Courtaulds’ love of travel.

Available spaces

The Great Hall

The Great Hall is a stunning work of medieval architecture where you can host a range of corporate events from conferences, lunches, away days, banquets and evening receptions.

Separated from the main house only by a sliding Chinese lacquer screen the contrast between Art Deco and Medieval is stunning. A minstrels’ gallery may be used for live music performances. The room opens directly onto lawns, which parties can use in fine weather.
